Facility Closure Report

The following facilities are closed due to flooding conditions/damages, seasonal closures, maintenance and construction activities, low lake levels, etc:


Lake Closure Information

No closures


Due to low water levels Little Mustang Creek, Love Park, Mott Park and Waxahachie Creek Park Boat Ramps are closed. High View Park boat ramp is currently the only open boat ramp.
The Multi-Use trails are subject to closure after heavy or prolonged rainfall. Contact the lake office at 972-875-5711, Monday - Friday, 7:30-4:00 daily, for current trail information.

High View Park: Open for day-use and camping as well as boat ramp and marina access.

Mott Park: Limited capacity open for 7 day-use sites, boat ramp, 1 vault restroom. No overnight camping will be available.

Love Park: (Day use park) Limited capacity open for boat ramp access and day-use group shelter available for reservation through NRRS only, 2 vault restrooms. All other day use facilities are temporarily closed.

Waxahachie Creek Park: Limited capacity open for Multi-Use Trail day-use access, 1 vault restroom. No overnight camping will be available.


All courtesy docks are not usable.

Iron Bridge Park, McGregor Park, Winkler Park, Live Oak Park and White Flint Park boat ramps not usable.


* All ramps closed except for Mustang.
* Rocky Creek and Bear Creek Parks are closed. These parks will open 1 April 2015.
* Westcreek Circle is closed for repairs.

Marinas: For the status of the Benbrook Marina in Dutch Branch Park, please contact the marina directly at 817-249-1173. The marina in Rocky Creek Park is no longer in business; the marina area is closed to vehicles at this time.

– The following parks are closed for the Winter Season Each Year (October 1 - March 31): North Park, Canyon Park, Canyon Beach and Comal Park.  North Park’s days of operation during the Summer Season (April 1 – September 30) are Friday, Saturday and Sunday and federally recognized holidays of Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day. 
– Each December, parts of Potters Creek Park will be closed for seasonal wildlife management practices. Check with the lake office for the current dates and closure information for the park.
–Hancock Trail is subject to closure depending upon current weather conditions. When it has been raining and the parking area is muddy, the trail will be closed and gated.

–Due to low lake levels, the following boat ramps are closed: 3, 5, 7, 10, 11, 22 and 23

There are currently no closures at Cooper Lake.


Seasonal Closures:

Cedar Breaks Park - Sites 36-61 Closed Annually from 11/1 – 3/1

Jim Hogg Park - Sites 79-148, S080, S122, S132, D092, D102, D110, D140 Closed Annually from 11/1 – 3/1

Russell Park - Sites 9-13, 20-27 & GS4, GS5 & Day Use area Closed Annually from 11/1 – 3/1

Tejas Park - Sites 1-6 Closed Annually from 11/1 – 3/1


Fishing docks and courtesy boat docks are closed due to low lake levels.


No Closures.


Murrell Park is open.  Boat ramp is closed due to low lake level.
Both Meadowmere ramps are closed.
Farris Branch (also known as Scott’s Landing) ramp is closed.
Vineyards Campground ramp is closed.
Katie’s Woods Low Water Ramp is closed.

McPherson Slough Boat Ramp is closed.



Hords Creek

Campsites, all group shelters except for group shelter 6, and screen shelters are back up and can be reserved through NRRS.

We currently do not have any designated swim beaches at this time due to low lake level.

The only boat ramp and fishing pier that are open right now are the ones located at Friendship Park Day Use.

Flatrock Park is currently closed and will remain closed for Summer 2012.

Joe Pool

All parks open.

Lake O the Pines

All areas at LP are open.

Lavon Lake

Brockdale Park is closed due to low lake levels.

East Fork Park is open for camping and day use.  Boat ramps closed.
Lavonia Park is open for camping and day use.  Boat ramp closed.
Clear Lake Park is open for camping.  Boat ramps closed.
Little Ridge Park is open for day use.  Low water boat ramp is open.
Ticky Creek Park is closed due to low lake levels.
Mallard Park is closed due to low lake levels.
Avalon park is closed for day use Monday - Thursday.  Boat ramp closed all week.
Lakeland Park is closed due to low lake levels.
Pebble Beach Park is closed due to low lake levels.
Elm Creek Park is closed due to low lake levels.
Twin Groves is closed due to low lake levels.
Caddo Park is closed until further notice.
Bratonia Park is closed due to low lake levels.
Highland Park is closed due to low lake levels.


Lewisville Lake

Hickory Creek – Closed until contractors can be secured to reopen.

Westlake and Oakland Parks-Closed October 1, 2013 through March 31, 2014.

Doe Branch Access, Hidden Cove, Westlake Park, Oakland Parks, Hickory Creek Park, Oak Point Boat Ramp and Big Sandy Access are all closed due to low water levels.

O.C. Fisher All ramps are unusable due to low lake levels, except for the one nearest the dam where small boats can be launched. All other facilities open.
Navarro Mills

Oak Park at Navarro Mills Lake will be temporarily closed effective October 28, 2013 due to construction activities associated with upgrades to the park's septic system. The work is expected to be complete on or before February 1, 2014 and the park will re-open as soon as the work is finished. We apologize for any inconvenience but the temporary closure is necessary since all of the restrooms and dump stations will be out-of-service during the construction period.


Brushie Prairie Park and boat ramp is temporarily closed due to budget constraints.


HIGH POINT PARK: Park is closed. Day-use horse and hiking trail parking allowed at the main entrance.

Copperras Creek Day Use boat ramp is closed due to low lake levels.

Ray Roberts

All parks open.

Sam Rayburn

Hanks Creek Campground is closed for maintenance.  The closure is currently in place and will remain until January 3, 2014; depending on weather conditions allowing maintenance activities to occur.

Stillhouse Hollow

Chalk Ridge Falls Environmental Area remains closed due to delayed construction but is expected to open 1 June.

All courtesy docks are not usable. The delineated beaches are not usable.


The following boat ramps at Somerville Lake are closed due to low lake level:

Rocky Creek Park #1
Nails Creek State Park Boat Ramp
Birch Creek Forest Boat Ramp

Town Bluff Dam/B.A. Steinhagen Lake All boat ramps are now open. Magnolia Ridge Park, Sandy Creek Park and Martin Dies, Jr. State Park are fully operational. Campers Cove camping area will remain closed until further notice.

There are currently no facility closures.


LOFERS BEND WEST PARK: Boat Ramp closed due to low lake levels.  Sites 10, 11, 12, 13, and 18 Screen Shelter sites closed due to construction.

Wright Patman

There are currently no drought closures at Wright Patman Lake.

North Shore Park and Oak Park are Open for Season. Lower Spillway Park is Open for Season

Piney Point Campground is Open for Season. Rocky Point Campground D-Section is Open for Season. Clear Springs Park A-Section is Open for Season.

All Hunting Access Roads are Closed for Season, Except Armstrong Creek, Black Point, Corley Area, Mudd Lake, Glenn Mill, and Bassett Creek.
